Warnow-Klinik: Investor search started
Patient care at Warnow-Klinik continues and the reorganisation is being driven forward. After the Warnow-Klinik filed for insolvency, a specialised team is now taking care of the reorganisation of the hospital in Bützow, Mecklenburg.
On 31 July 2023, Warnow-Klinik Bützow gGmbH filed for insolvency with the Rostock District Court. The Rostock lawyer Ulrike Hoge-Peters from the law firm HGW, which specialises in insolvency law and restructuring, was appointed as the provisional insolvency administrator. The creditors’ committee passed further resolutions on 10 August.
“In order to effectively tackle the necessary restructuring and strategically realign Warnow-Klinik, we will be supported by an interdisciplinary team specialised in comparable situations,” says Ulrike Hoge-Peters, who represents the clinic externally and has been working as an insolvency administrator for 23 years. Ulrike Heesemann, MD, from the hospital management company HC&S, will take on the role of medical CRO as part of the reorganisation. She is a neurologist and psychiatrist and worked for 19 years in private hospital groups, including eight years as chief physician, regional medical director and member of the medical board at Europe’s largest hospital operator. As interim manager, she will in particular take on restructuring and optimisation tasks that have a special connection to the provision of medical services. In addition, she will be responsible for medical strategy consulting and will ensure dovetailing with the commercial restructuring. She will be supported by Dr. Nicolas Krämer, Chairman of the Board of HC&S, as well as other restructuring experts of the hospital company. HC&S had already accompanied the clinic and its managing director Dr. Wolfgang Grimme in recent months.
A possible strategic option is the sale of the clinic, 40% of which is still owned by the town of Bützow, to a new owner. In addition to appointing HC&S, the creditors’ committee also approved the cooperation with the Hamburg-based transaction consultancy WAYES. Falk Schnurbusch and his experienced team are to ensure a professional organisation of the investor process. Several initial enquiries from interested parties have already been received.
Ulrike Hoge-Peters emphasises: “Warnow-Klinik is relevant to care and has highly committed employees. Together with them and the restructuring team, we will succeed in developing a sustainable future concept for the clinic. Patient care will continue without any restrictions and the closure of the clinic is not an option.
