When wish lists turn into Christmas joy

Over the past few weeks, we at WAYES have been collecting and purchasing gifts across all our locations to bring joy to children and young people in the run-up to Christmas. Now comes the best part: the parcels are gradually being handed over to organisations that do great work every day:
Hamburg: Theodorus Children’s Day Hospice & Women Help Women
The Theodorus Children’s Day Hospice supports children, teenagers and young adults with life-shortening illnesses. It offers palliative care and support during the day, thereby also relieving the burden on families in their everyday lives. ‘Frauen helfen Frauen’ Hamburg e.V. supports women and their children who are affected by violence. The association offers shelter in women’s refuges, counselling and help on the path to a self-determined, safe life.
Berlin: Haus Conradshöhe
Haus Conradshöhe is a child and youth welfare organisation offering various residential and care services. Here, children and young people find a stable environment, reliable guidance and support for their everyday lives, their schooling and their personal development.
Bremen & Oldenburg: Löwenherz Children’s Hospice
The Löwenherz Children’s Hospice supports families with seriously ill children and young people – both in-patient and out-patient. In addition to care and respite, this also includes support in times of crisis and bereavement services for relatives.
Munich: Kai Children’s Home
The Kai Children’s Home supports children and young people who need extra help in their everyday lives. With therapeutic and social education services, the facility strengthens their academic, social and personal development – and gives them stability and perspective.
We have already started the handover in Hamburg – and the other locations will follow in the next few days. We hope that this will allow us to spread a little bit of Christmas magic.
Thank you to all my colleagues who made this possible. This is what solidarity in action looks like.
