YES! Long-established firm Abelmann Fischfeinkost saved

Heinrich Abelmann Fischfeinkost GmbH is a long-established fish delicatessen company based in Bremerhaven. The company has been producing high-quality fish specialities for decades and supplies the catering industry and food retailers throughout Germany.

A product recall in late summer 2025 led to a significant drop in turnover. In October 2025, Mr Berend Böhme, a solicitor at B + O Böhme Götz, was appointed as provisional insolvency administrator. Together with his colleague Patrick Bode, he successfully continued to run the company over the following months under difficult conditions, including during the insolvency proceedings opened on 1 December 2025, up to the present day.

WAYES was appointed as the exclusive M&A adviser and initiated a structured investor process. As a result, the canned food manufacturer Alfred Paulsen, which has been successfully active in food production for many years at sites including Otterndorf and Lage, will take over Abelmann’s business operations as part of an asset deal, including the commercial property, on 1 July 2026, thereby creating a solid foundation for the continuation of this long-established company. Another property belonging to the group was sold separately to a property investor in January 2026 through WAYES.

Prof. Dr Hendrik Heerma has been appointed as the insolvency administrator for Abelmann Holding GmbH, the owner of the commercial properties. On behalf of WAYES, Michael Rabe, Marcel Weist, Marisa Drinkmann and Jan-Christof Schröder oversaw the process.
